Hello!
My name is Holly and among other things, I'm an artist, illustrator and author of children’s books.

I grew up in south-west Scotland and studied Illustration at Edinburgh College of Art where I then taught for seven years.

I draw the things I love which is why my work is filled with animals, the natural world, and occasionally, when they are good, my children. Character is everything to me and I enjoy the challenge of seeking out and expressing this in every drawing and painting I do.

I love to work in colour but am equally delighted in the joys of black and white and love nothing more than a dip pen and a pot of ink to play with.

Writing and illustrating books for children allows me to say all the things and express all the feelings I want my children to know and I hope in doing so it allows other parents and carers to do the same through sharing my books with their own loved ones.

I have a passion for Drawing Wildly and love to take my sketchbook out in the wilds of the Outer Hebrides Scotland where I live. Island life is constantly inspiring, as are my furred and feathered companions of which there are plenty. Regular studio mates come in the form of Painter & Pencil the dogs & Penny Crayon the cat. Guinea Pigs and the Plumpies (my chickens) also like to keep tabs on what's happening and I wouldn't have it any other way!
