When Beth offered up her gorgeous gang of rescued cats and dogs as models, I jumped at the chance and I have to tell you, I'm already more than a little bit in love with them all! We're going to be drawing a real variety of canine & feline shapes and characters and I just know you are going to love it!!

I thought this session had all the makings of something super fun and special, so feeling inspired by being invited into another illustrator's home, I thought we'd do something a little different by following a 'Observation - Illustration' format... Let me explain...

For the first hour we'll be drawing Beth's dogs & Cats purely observationally, gathering all the visual information we can to capture their form, movement and character. I'm going to have a camera on my drawing space and the screen will be split so that you can follow along with me as I talk through my observational drawing process, or you can simply draw along at your own tempo.

Next, for the second half of the session, I am going to switch my drawing style up and walk you through how I develop my drawing thoughts along an illustrative path to create some super cute and charismatic characters. Fun times!! If this isn't quite your cup of tea then you can simply carry on drawing under your own steam as we'll be keeping the camera on our gorgeous models throughout.

ALL levels of creatives are welcome to these sessions, any age or ability! You can expect is to find an encouraging group of animal-loving artists at the Elephant in the Room sessions, the atomosphere is always warm and inviting. The challenge of drawing animals can seem daunting at first but you are great company here, and during this session, I will be able to guide you through the process - you'll have a sketchbook bursting with drawings in no time!

DO BRING PLENTY OF PAPER - you will get through a lot! The rest is up to you, but I recommend choosing materials that move quickly across the page for those moving animal studies. 

PLEASE ARRIVE IN PLENTY OF TIME - the sessions are always jam-packed with footage so I try to start promptly at 7pm so it's a good idea to jump on the zoom ten mins beforehand to get settled. I can of course let you in if you arrive late (I'm no meany!) : )
